Abstract

A multiple antibiotic-resistant Acinetobacter baumanii strain caused nosocomial meningitis in one patient which external ventricular drainage was applied because of his acute hydrocephalus. The bacterium isolated from cerebrospinal fluid of the patient was only susceptible to netilmycin, imipenem, meropenem, ciprofloxacin and ticarcillin+clavulanic acid; resistant to amikacin, ampicillin, ampicillin sulbactam, penicillin G, cefixime, cefoperazone, ceftazidime, ceftriaxone, and trimethoprim-sulphametaxosole. In this article, external ventrıcular draınage system-related nosocomial Acınetobacter baumanıı menengıtıs is evaluated and announced as a rare case.
